Burbank Housing, a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to providing affordable housing in Sonoma and surrounding Counties, has an opening for a full-time Assistant Manager to support the management and oversight of two closely situated affordable housing communities. The individual in this full-time position (40 hours per week) assists the Resident Manager in the day to day management of the 87-unit Old Elm Village community and the smaller, neighboring 23-unit Madrone Village Apartments located in downtown Petaluma, California. Starting salary ranges from $15.00 to $17.00 per hour depending upon the skills and experience of the individual. This is a resident position. The Assistant Manager is required to reside on site, and a 2-bedroom apartment in the Madrone Village community is provided rent and utility free. This position is eligible for health insurance and robust employee benefits.

A minimum of 2 years of professional office experience, customer and/or public service or hands on experience participating in the management of an apartment complex is required. Strong general office and computer skills are required including experience with software applications commonly used in a business office environment. In addition, the Assistant Manager must quickly develop competency in Yardi Voyager and applications related to property management. This position requires strong communication and problem solving skills and requires close attention to detail in handling confidential information, preparation of documents and reports, and meeting strict deadlines.

The Assistant Manager works in a business office and is responsible for assisting in the oversight of the daily operations of the managed communities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to reviewing applications for potential tenants, interviewing prospective tenants and preparing accurate, compliance-related documentation, renting apartments, collecting rents and deposits, investigating and resolving tenant complaints and issues, preparing deadline-driven reports, and overseeing the use of the community rooms and all common areas.
