RegularJOB TITLE: Resident Account Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
The Resident Account Manager leads a team responsible for all resident ledger bookkeeping functions throughout the customer lifecycle. Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service to residents while managing customer account inquiries, delinquencies, ledger entries and corrections, small claim disputes, and evictions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Ensures team meets Essex standards while completing all bookkeeping functions during resident lifecycle.
- Manages administration of resident lease transactions to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Actively manages appropriate communication with residents regarding move-in process, ledger balances, past move-out balances, and eviction status. Resolves customer escalations in a timely and accurate manner.
- Oversees and supports Account Specialists during collection process, ensuring delinquency is maintained within company targets.
- Establishes and maintains a monthly schedule for collection process, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of Pay or Quits, delinquency notices, and resident communications.
- Partners with Community Relations and other appropriate departments to resolve bookkeeping, delinquency, and legal issues.
- Ensure systems are kept up to date and accurate for data integrity and reporting purposes.
- Completes accounting responsibilities including revenue management, and timely processing of Deposit Accounting and Accounting Month End.
- Ensures compliance of company money management and accounts receivable policies and procedures.
- Ability to support legal proceedings for unpaid rent, including the unlawful detainer, small claims, and eviction processes.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required or a bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university is preferred.
- 2 to 4 years of experience with 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Valid driver license and automobile insurance.
WHAT THE JOB REQUIRES:
- Maintain alignment with Essex policies and procedures while effectively managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Accounting, Legal, and other departments within Essex.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable laws, e.g., Fair Housing, Landlord Tenant, Local Building Codes, OSHA, and EEOC. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Work is primarily conducted in an office setting. Requires sitting at a desk or workstation for extended periods, with regular need to deliver resident notices. This may involve walking and the use of stairs for prolonged periods of time. Involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
- Requires the ability to work Mondays through Fridays on-site at one of the regional sites or their assigned Hub. Must be able to work weekends or after hours on rare occasions if there is a business need or emergency.
- This role requires the ability to travel between the regional collection sites, with the possibility of traveling for training/conventions, court appearances, etc.

- Provides formal supervision to associates within a single functional or operational area. Recommends staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action, and termination. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisals for staff.

The salary range for this position is $81,000.00 - $114,000.00 per year. New hires generally start between $81,000.00 - $99,000.00 per year. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
