Job Description: Essex Property Trust is seeking a highly skilled Associate Manager, Strategic Sourcing, to execute sourcing initiatives and drive strategic procurement activities. The Associate Manager will be responsible for developing and executing innovative sourcing strategies, optimizing supplier relationships, and delivering cost savings while ensuring delivery of the highest quality goods and services.

Please note that this job position entails in-person office requirements for a minimum of 3 days per week: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, located at Essex's corporate offices in Irvine, Woodland Hills, San Mateo, and Bellevue.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead sourcing initiatives in collaboration with internal stakeholders and manage the RFx process for key strategic spend categories.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies aligned with the organization's strategic objectives. Identify opportunities for cost savings, supplier consolidation, spend leveraging, and process optimization. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to drive innovation.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with suppliers to optimize supplier performance and deliver value to the organization. Conduct supplier evaluations and assessments, negotiate favorable contracts, and ensure supplier compliance with quality, delivery, and service level agreements. Foster strategic relationships that promote collaboration and innovation.
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure advantageous terms and conditions that drive cost savings, create value, and mitigate risks. Develop and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Monitor contract performance, resolve disputes, and initiate contract renewals or modifications as necessary.
  • Analyze spend data and market intelligence to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement. Implement strategies to achieve cost savings without compromising quality or service levels. Drive cross-functional value engineering initiatives to optimize product specifications and streamline processes.
  • Identify and assess potential risks and disruptions in the supply chain. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, including multi-sourcing, supplier diversification, and contingency plans. Stay informed about geopolitical, environmental, and regulatory factors that may impact the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and quality assurance, to align sourcing strategies with overall business goals. Engage stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide strategic sourcing guidance and expertise. Foster strong relationships to ensure cross-functional collaboration and buy-in.
  • Identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to benchmark and monitor supplier performance. Develop and implement associated reporting for presentation to key internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in strategic procurement with a focus on delivering cost savings and value creation.
  • Possesses experience in identifying and implementing strategic procurement best practices in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Experienced in negotiating strategic contracts with numerous variables and ensuring compliance throughout the contract term.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Familiarity with supply chain risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or equivalent
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
  • Preferred experience with Procurement across multiple product and service categories

The salary range for this position is $79,000.00 - $111,000.00 per year. New hires generally start between $79,000.00 - $96,000.00 per year. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.

This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
