Edward Rose & Sons is a family owned company providing modest to brand new luxury apartment communities throughout the Midwest and surrounding states. We handle all phases of development: from land acquisition to construction to management and maintenance.

We are looking for a professional and motivated individual to join our team as a Carpenter IIICarpenter III's oversee and maintain the interior and exterior of buildings, including apartments, and common areas. This includes the oversight of repairing reported items, which need service in both apartments and common areas, as well as preventive maintenance as needed.  Carpenter III's are responsible for leading the carpenter crew, and the oversight of company equipment, and a safe work environment.

Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):

  • Oversee and complete the repairs on building exteriors at heights of up to 50 feet.
  • Responsible for overseeing carpenter II's and Carpenter I's with the assembling and fastening of materials, using hand tools, power tools and woodworking equipment.
  • Verifies construction quality to company standard.
  • Maintains carpentry supplies inventory by observing and checking stock, anticipating needed supplies, and verifying the delivery of materials.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform tasks within current building codes and construction standards.
  • Deliver quality carpentry work.
  • Monitor adherence to company policies and procedures, OSHA, state/local/federal laws, fair housing, and safety compliance.
  • Exhibit a positive disposition while interacting with residents, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Must present the ability to execute job duties under stressful circumstances such as last-minute deadlines or other difficult situations.
  • Ability to perform and train the following carpentry skills: general framing (including wooden structure walls, floors, and doorframes), finish work (detailed in cuts/trim replacement/siding, caulking, painting), building and repairing stair systems, install windows, doors, siding, cabinets and countertops, Roof Repairs, inspect and replace damaged framework.
  • Meet with team members on a regular basis to discuss safety program and goals. Work with individuals to develop skills and actions plans to increase those skills sets.

 Requirements, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Job foreman / Lead Carpenter Experience preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends if needed and travel to multiple locations.
  • Must be able to report to work during inclement weather conditions.
  • Must provide the following tools: Tool pouch, speed square, chalk box, tape measure, utility knife, nail puller, flat bar, levels, circular saw, Sawzall, impact drills, high speed drill, jig saw, cords, and sawhorses and have the skills to properly use those tools.
  • Extensive experience in roofing and general building maintenance is preferred.
  • Knowledge of maintenance safety guidelines and procedures, and OSHA 30 regulations (including state-specific) is preferred.
  • Must possess customer service and communication skills.
  • Must possess exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to use computer for online training purposes.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with others.
  • Must adhere to the team apparel policy.
  • Must have an acceptable driving record and a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have reliable Truck/Work Van (if applicable, based on location).
  • Regular attendance, work ethic and strong interpersonal skills are required for success in this position.

Compensation:  Starting at $24.78 per hour or higher, based on experience.
