RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Company is looking for a Director of Investor Relations. This person will be an integral member of the Investor Relations team of a NYSE registrant, assisting with communications and planning activities relating to institutional shareholders.  Specific responsibilities will include:

Demonstrate an understanding of Essex strategic direction and competitive differentiators with the ability to communicate those to a variety of stakeholders
Collaborate with other functions of the company (i.e. Operations/Finance, etc) to develop messaging and the outlook in a consistent and coordinated manner
Provide strategic direction to the executive team on all matters affecting the Company’s reputation and perception with the investment community
Establish strong relationships and effective communication with shareholders and the analyst community
Responsible for preparing and proper dissemination of all news releases, annual reports, investor website, presentations and various other reports and investor collateral;
Plan and manage investor events, meetings, roadshows, property tours and conference calls
Handle all media relations for the company

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have the following:
Minimum of 7 years of related real estate industry experience required
Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance or business is preferable
Strong analytical and quantitative skill set and a solid understanding of corporate financial statements
attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills
Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
