Are you interested in growing your career in property accounting? Does financial administration of multiple properties in multiple states sound like a fun challenge? Our client, a family owned investment firm is looking for an Accountant/Property Administrator to join their team.
The Property Administrator will be responsible for a portfolio of properties with duties to include financial reconciliations, general financial oversight, reviewing weekly and monthly reports, and verifying/reviewing monthly rents and deposits. This person will be the heads down, number cruncher of the team, making sure financials are accurate. The ideal candidate would be detail oriented, organized, and at least 3+ years of property accounting experience.
Property Accountant Responsibilities
- General, Payroll, Reserve and Bank Account reconciliations
- Review Financials and reports provided by Property Management software, request adjustments or correction be made if needed
- Review residents’ ledgers, general ledger for accurate accounting records
- Verify invoices, making sure they are posted correctly
- Process payroll using Paychex, conduct payroll tax reconciliation, and process vendor payments
- Inspect rent web portal to ensure that rent lease amounts are entered correctly, transactions are posted correctly, and security deposits and rental deposits are made
- Assist with rent increase reviews, estimates for capital improvements, market studies, and reviewing advertising and web traffic
- Maintain tenant and least information to ensure records are current and accurate
Property Accountant Qualifications
- 3+ years in property accounting
- Knowledge of property management software and the ability to quickly pick up new programs
- Resman, Appfolio, and Rent Manager will be used
- BA or AA in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration preferred
