The Role

The Preconstruction Analyst I reviews specifications, reads drawings, analyzes sub-contractor bids, performs quantity takeoffs from architectural and civil plans, and takes the lead on small estimates, as assigned. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepares estimates from conceptual and schematic level plans.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of site & building development costs.
  • Provides support to Preconstruction Managers through quantity take off and estimates as required, particularly lumber estimates, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical. Plumbing and Civil.
  • Exhibits knowledge of construction systems and products alternatives with regards to cost, quality of finished product, life cycle maintenance costs, speed of construction, and trade involvement with respect to labor supply, union involvement, and material availability.
  • Assists project design with assistance from architects, engineers, construction project managers, and design/build subcontractors to ensure consistent accuracy and completeness of plans and specs.
  • Provides support to the Redevelopment team in the estimating process.

You Have...

A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology or Engineering plus 1 – 3+ years of relevant experience. This includes experience with computerized estimating systems, such as On-Screen Takeoff and Timberline, as demonstrated by prior experience with such a system.
