WNC - Western National Contractors is looking for a Construction Project Accountant for our Irvine, CA  Corporate office.  The Construction Project Accountant is responsible for preparing timely and accurate monthly construction draw packages on multiple cost plus and/or GMAX large multi-family construction projects for submittal to client and/or lender based upon their specific requirements.

The main aspect of the job is assembly of timely and accurate monthly construction draw billing packages.  This involves a wide range of responsibilities to meet date specific goals, such as reviewing subcontracts agreements and change orders for accuracy, importing monthly subcontractor applications for payments, obtaining/tracking original executed lien releases from subcontractors/suppliers, processing general conditions invoices for payment, obtaining all necessary field approvals via electronic signature, calculating Fee and GL Insurance billings, and preparing the G702/703 billing applications. The billing package is then assembled for client pencil draw meeting. Once client pencil draw package is approved, the final construction draw package is assembled and presented to the client for funding.

Other aspects include:

Prepare monthly draw calendars that include dates to email the application for payment to subcontractors, hold pencil draw meetings with Project Managers and clients, submittal of construction draw packages to client and/or lenders, and required funding dates.  Track all Preliminary Notices. Confirm subcontractor OCIP/CCIP and/or GL insurance is compliant.  Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and Project Managers to manage draw requests/requirements and ensure pending issues are resolved to allow for timely release of payment.  Upon funding of construction draw, match checks with invoice package and submit to Director of Construction Accounting, and/or Vice President/Controller for approval to release checks.  Prepare deposits and maintain daily cash balance logs.  Reconcile bank statements.  Generate Timberline reports and prepare monthly financial reporting packages for assigned projects.  Maintain subcontractor accounts payables file.  Maintain preliminary notice, and lien release files.  Perform other duties as assigned.  The preceding functions are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and skills required of this position.

REQUIRED KKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Prior construction accounting experience, dealing with subcontracts, lien releases, and preliminary notices is preferred.
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task on simultaneous large construction projects and is well organized.
  • Exceptional communication skills (phone, email and in person).
  • Experience with MS Office, especially with Excel.
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum two years construction accounting related experience.
  • Timberline/Sage 300 experience preferred.
