Responsibilities
PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT II - COMMERCIAL – Requirements and ResponsibilitiesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of all core accounting principles and best practices, including US GAAP
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with multiple deadlines
Knowledge of accounting practices specific to commercial operations (straight line rent amortization, percentage rent, CAM pools, CAM reconciliations and allocations)
Ability to effectively research and communicate issues and findings
Understanding of sub ledger data and its impact to the financial statements
Strong planning, organizational, quantitative and problem solving skills
Comprehensive knowledge of lease contract terms, conditions and concepts
Detail oriented individual who will be responsible for the research and investigation of transactional level detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Strong team player
Knowledge of Right of Use Assets
Requirements
Four year degree in accounting or similar field from an accredited college or university
Real Estate experience preferred
Solid knowledge of US GAAP
Experience with commercial lease administration, straight line rent amortization, and CAM reconciliations and allocations required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with public accounting firm preferred
Yardi experience preferred
Responsibilities
Performs general ledger account analysis and prepares journal entries throughout the month and month end close
Monthly review of the P&L and Balance Sheet
Interacts with Accounts Payable and the Fixed Asset group on a regular basis
Preparation of monthly property reconciliations and consolidated account reconciliations
Review financial statement variances during month-end and ensure that accounting transactions are complete and balances are accurate
Assist with internal and external audit requests as needed
Assist with annual budgeting as needed
Reviews balance sheet account reconciliations, including ensuring that outstanding items are cleared in a timely manner
Other Ad Hoc Reports as Needed The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and a background in the commercial/retail industry. Must be a team player and Strong planning, organizational, quantitative and problem solving skills. Comfortable with Commercial leases and CAM calculations. Good communication, customer service, and detail oriented skills are preferred.
