Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY
This individual will have responsibility for performing audits of corporate and property functions, including Sarbanes-Oxley 404 testing, external audit support and a variety of corporate audit projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform audits of properties, corporate and operational areas.
Perform Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) testing.
Assist in the development of risk-based audit plans.
Prepare internal audit reports for management, make recommendations for internal control and process enhancements and obtain management's feedback.
Communicate with corporate and operational personnel to develop appropriate recommendations for internal control and process enhancements.
Perform audit support work for Essex’ external auditors.
Perform other duties as requested by the Audit Committee or Sr. Management.
Assist in special investigations and other projects as assigned.
Ability to remain current with industry trends and maintain all professional certifications.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting or Finance preferred.
CPA/CIA preferred.
SOX experience strongly preferred.
1+ years experience in audit required.
Knowledge of real estate preferred.
Strong analytical, written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills.
Ability to work independently, adapt to change quickly, multi-task and be part of a team.
Flexible and willing to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities.
