Another Source’s client, Stanford University, is recruiting a Real Estate Asset Management, Senior Associate to join their Faculty Staff Housing team.

Here’s a little about Stanford University and the position they are recruiting for:

Stanford University- Faculty Staff Housing seeks an experienced real estate professional with a background in property management who can: Perform property management duties under general supervision to help administer and support Faculty Staff Housing programs or functions. Complete complex finance functions and/or activities requiring advanced knowledge and application of industry practices, internal policies, external regulations, precedents, and systems. Complete work independently, and manage a key area within a finance operation, as needed.

Core Duties:

Property Management

• Financial Analysis: Monitor and forecast rental property budgets. Post income and expense transactions for the University's on and off-campus rental properties to the University's financial management system in a timely and accurate manner. Run reports and reconcile income and expenditure statements. Research and resolve sources of incorrect information, whether they come from monthly property managers' general ledger reports, or Stanford's' internal operations (e.g. cash management, accounts payable, etc.)

• Program Oversight: Monitor and direct leasing activity, including screening of applicants. Monitor and manage occupancy though regular review of rent rolls in the context of other aspects of the department, and review of rental housing programs with onsite 3rd Party Manager. Enforcement of all current rental housing programs and recommend changes that benefit the overall operation of the programs.

• General Administration: Regular property visits to meet with onsite management, tour property, assess FF&E, and other capital improvements. Provide direction and monitoring of property maintenance and capital projects ensuring compliance with current FSH standards, in terms of curb appeal, landscaping, exterior paint, interior decor, etc.

Project Management

• Assist with the acquisition, disposition, and maintenance/repair of University homes pursuant to conflict resolution and general FSH program needs.

• Assist with performing risk management functions, such as tracking compliance with property taxes and insurance requirements, monitoring and corresponding with borrowers, homeowners, and renters who become out of compliance with FSH programs, building regulations, etc.

• Perform and/or assist with special management-related projects as required by upper management.

Property Administration

• Review and approve applications for home improvements on campus homes.

• Review and approve building plans against the Building Subdivision Regulations and Stanford land use policies.

• Assist homeowners through approval process or variance requests process. This involves:

• Recommending creative solutions that meet homeowners' needs as well as complying with policies and regulations.

• Calculating and enforce setbacks that define the buildable area. Interfacing with architects, contractors, and municipal representatives.

• Conduct site visits to evaluate progress and to post notices of non-responsibility.

• Create and maintain all records, including those recorded by the local municipality.

• Update, process and file all documentation related to the requirements and process of home improvement project approval.

• General Administration

• Provide professional service at all times, exercising discretion as it relates to confidential resident, property, and University information.

• Develop in-depth knowledge of the housing market through regular use of market research, surveys, and outreach. Said knowledge shall include landlord-tenant laws, building permit detail.

• Participate in the maintenance of content in the FSH database of employees eligible for all housing programs.

• Compile and reconcile information from the FSH database, and other systems to produce various reports for review by upper management, University departments outside of FSH, and others.

• Attend trainings that pertain to the position.

• May act as a lead and provide direction and training to less experienced staff.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Job is intermittently sedentary, but requires mobility (i.e. climb stairs,) to tour properties, regularly.

• Demonstrated project management skills and ability to prepare materials for, and clearly and effectively communicate information to, internal and external audiences and client groups.

• Demonstrated ability to take initative and ownership of projects.

• Demonstrated excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work and multi-task.

• Strong communication skills, including ability to prepare materials for, and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences and client groups.

• Demonstrated knowledge of financial systems, and business applications such as Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.

• Proficient with computers and the internet.

• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple sites required.

Certificates and Licenses:

• Real estate license preferred
