We are currently seeking a motivated, experienced, business savvy Human Resources professional to join our West Coast team as an HR Manager based in San Francisco. Under the direction of the West Coast HR Director, you will be responsible for the management and execution of Human Resources functions for our Northern CA portfolio. Your interpersonal and organizational skills will enable you to assist in identifying HR needs for assigned business partner groups while maintaining ongoing involvement in a wide variety of responsibilities for field and corporate employees. Your days will be full, fast-paced, and challenging, with your primary activities including include advisement of employee relations, interpreting and consistently applying HR policies, retention and employee engagement, administration of Equity’s performance management and compensation processes, frequent HR data analysis and related strategic planning, and the development, facilitation and dissemination of HR-related training.

WHAT YOU’LL DO  
  • Serve as an HR leader to field and corporate groups in your region to help determine their HR needs and coordinate timely and efficient customer service.
  • Act as a resource for the interpretation of Human Resource policies.  Serve as liaison to the Chicago Corporate Human Resources Department during the development of new and/or changes to existing policies/programs.
  • Handle employee relations.  Provide guidance to supervisors regarding confidential and impartial counseling to employees.  Counsel and advise management of legal implications of employment and termination decisions.  Assist supervisors in the composition of documentation for progressive discipline.
  • Offer support for HR operations activities within assigned employee population inclusive of (but not limited to): the facilitation of Day One, onboarding; employment processing; coaching and counseling; electronic and hard copy records management; and administration of Equity’s performance management and compensation processes.
  • Coordinate HR data processing for corporate and property personnel.
  • Guide, facilitate, and train managers throughout the annual performance review process.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and facilitation of Human Resource related training programs.

REQUIREMENTS 

  • College degree and 7 to 10 years of experience as Human Resources generalist.
  • Demonstrated experience managing highly confidential information, a positive attitude, initiative and  business acumen. Ability to present professional image necessary.
  • Integrity, initiative, good business sense, ability to deal with a multitude of personalities, strong problem solving skills, and excellent communication & organizational skills required.
  • Computer literacy required with previous experience in HRIS database preferred. 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desired.
 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE 

  • Professional HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
  • If relevant to market, experience in labor relations, including administering and negotiating union contracts and grievances.
