Responsibilities

The Sr. Business Systems Analyst, IT, is primarily responsible for defining and documenting business requirements and business process flows pertaining to custom Essex applications and vendor packaged solutions, including but not limited to the external website, internal intranet site, Contact Center and Yardi property management systems. This position will meet with business users to capture all areas of business needs and process to document and review with other team members, using Word, Visio or other suitable applications. This documentation will be used to facilitate assessments for software solutions, design for custom applications, configuration choices for purchased application and support of projects and business process refinement as deemed appropriate.

Essential job functions include the following:

• Facilitate and lead discussions with business owners regarding process and system requirements
• Document all discussions and requirements, including detailed descriptions, Visio diagrams and data definitions
• Lead all analysis of business requirements and matching to IT business system solutions
• Act as liaison between the business owners and developers/ configuration analysts
• Ensure clear delivery of business requirements through system configurations and custom development
• Contribute to the achievement of IT strategy and objectives
• Manage the working sessions during system design, development and deployment stages of all IT system projects
• Contribute to all Training plans and activities for system deployments
• Work with IT Support team to ensure clear understanding of business requirements and support issues
• Work with software vendors and system consultants to define solutions proposals for business requirements
• Support all unit testing, QA testing and User Acceptance testing cycles for all business systems implementations
• Make business system recommendations and assist with data-driven decisions
• Maintain Essex’s IT SDLC standards
• Partner with Communications team to build positive brand awareness and messaging
• Provide input and tracking of project budgets and project budget planning activities

• Participate in all other IT team activities and planning sessions
• Work collaboratively with other Essex departments
• Contribute to the development of all IT associates and the positive culture of the group as a whole
• Other duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

A valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance is required.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, emphasis in computer science or information systems
• Master’s Degree a plus
• Experience: 5+ years of business systems experience

• Exceptional documentation skills
• Strong experience in requirements analysis, system evaluations, system design, and implementations
• A whiz at creating business requirements documentation and visuals to aid in business system solutions assessments
• Experience with Visio, MS Project and other process visualization tools
• Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Knowledge of and interest in all areas of IT including infrastructure, operations and support
• Outstanding presentation, written and verbal communications skills
