Job Description
The Director, Business Process and Project Management is responsible for leading and managing the execution of initiatives, programs, projects, and other process improvements that enhance the operational and financial performance of the Line of Business (LOB). The position partners with the key business leaders to review and evaluate existing processes, tools, and systems, identify opportunities for improvements, understand the business priorities, and develop and manage end-to-end solution strategies. The position builds and leads project teams comprised of multi-functional internal and external experts, tracks and reports progress, uses project management best practices and tools to facilitate project execution, and ensure successful implementation within the business to achieve project objectives.
  1. Participates with the Line of Business (LOB) Leadership team in reviewing, diagnosing, and evaluating business processes, practices, systems, and tools to identify opportunities for enhancing or improving business-level performance, and recommends and proposes projects, process improvement initiatives, and other strategies around the identified needs and priorities of the business.
  2. Develops, manages and directs end-to-end projects, initiatives, and process improvement strategies by developing detailed project plans, identifying and cost-justifying the acquisition of required financial and other resources, engaging with appropriate leaders within the business and/or in Support Services groups to build project teams, and applying best practices in project management to achieve successful project completion.
  3. Oversees and leads project teams comprised of internal and external experts by scheduling and facilitating project team meetings, clarifying roles and responsibilities, ensuring appropriate assignment of tasks and activities, promoting productive exchange of ideas, problem-solving discussions, and decision-making, and following up as needed to ensure work stays on track according to established timelines and expectations.
  4. Creates, adapts, and implements project management techniques, systems, tools, templates, and other methods that improve efficiency, promote consistency and standardization of project management methodologies, and optimize the effectiveness of project teams.
  5. Uses established Company and/or business-specific budgeting tools, systems, and procedures, and complies with other policies and procedures for managing project-related costs and expenses, and for identifying, selecting, and engaging external consultants, vendors, and service providers as necessary to perform project-related work.
  6. Monitors and tracks progress on projects against established milestones and targets, provides routine status and project progress reports to key leaders, and takes appropriate actions to course-correct or address issues that impede or create risk for the on-time delivery and completion of work.
  7. Evaluates and measures actual business impact of completed projects, recommends changes or improvements to optimize results, and takes appropriate follow-up actions as needed to sustain the financial and operational performance improvements realized by the business.
  8. Ensures projects and initiatives are compliant with the Company’s policies and standards related to Risk Management, human resources, financial reporting, data security, legal and regulatory, and ethical business practices.


Education

Bachelor’s degree in business, project management, or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Qualifications

  • Formal Project Management foundation coursework, knowledge and significant experience with project management methods, technologies, tools, applications, and strategies.
  • Seven to 10 years' experience of successfully managing a range of critical, enterprise-wide type projects that include both technologies implementation, process improvements, and performance enhancement strategies, with elevated levels of complexity and business criticality.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven success in building high-energy teams, creating and articulating clear strategy and direction, and fostering collaboration and synergy. Has demonstrated skill in gaining the respect and credibility of both internal and external business associates.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in interpersonal and written communication skills, and ability to make effective and persuasive presentations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and property and database management programs.
  • Strong financial analysis skills to effectively formulate budgets and business plans, and use financial and other reports to manage projects and make sound financial decisions.
