In this role you will report to and assist the Construction Reporting Supervisor in preparing and reviewing reports to be submitted to senior management for approval. The role will also assist the corporate accounting team with the monthly financial statement close process.

Please note that this job position entails in-person office requirements for a minimum of 3 days per week: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, located at Essex's corporate offices in Irvine, Woodland Hills, San Mateo, and Bellevue.

Duties include:

  • Prepare monthly reporting and recurring draw packages.

  • Prepare monthly construction loans’ funding requests and monthly/quarterly reporting packages to lenders.

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly reconciliations and journal entries.

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reporting and analyses for management (development, redevelopment, nonrevenue generating capex and acquisition capital, structural repairs) and other departments (cost projections, pipelines, forecasts).

  • Assist with setup of original budgets and budget changes for Development projects into accounting system, and with costs reclass as needed.

  • Review and upload into accounting system Development contracts and change orders.

  • Set up Redevelopment units into accounting system to track budgets uses. Notify on a weekly basis to the Redevelopment team any units’ setup issues. Process quarterly closing of Redevelopment jobs in agreement with Redevelopment team. Select Redevelopment job codes for monthly rehab vacancy reporting.

  • Update tracker for mechanics’ liens and other legal issues, ensuring completeness and accuracy of records, and prepare monthly reporting to Legal department. Issue weekly updated list of litigation jobs to AP and Legal departments.

  • Assist with Development projects’ Bond requests, update Bonds tracker and prepare quarterly reporting to Development department.

  • Process General Contractors’ Due Diligence bi-annual updates for Development projects.

  • Special projects as needed to assist Management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; construction accounting knowledge along with experience in job cost and Yardi preferred
  • 1-5 years of experience preferred
  • Must be proficient in Excel and Word; - Must be able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Must have excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills, and strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to work independently as well as with others.

The salary range for this position is $68,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year. New hires generally start between $68,000.00 - $81,000.00 per year. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.

This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
