About the opportunity
WinnComapanies is looking for a General Maintenance Technician - Plumbing Specialist to join our military team located in Fort Hood, TX.
In this role, you will specialize as a COM (Change of Occupancy Maintenance) or resident service request technician or may be utilized to respond to multiple types of work orders. Your primary responsibility is to perform maintenance functions in the community, including rental units, office buildings, residential areas, grounds and parking lots. You will perform general maintenance and repair of building structures and associated mechanical, electrical, plumbing, sanitary systems, and equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Repair, troubleshooting and replacement of plumbing systems and components from the point of demarcation into the home, from the sewer lines to main water lines and from supply lines to fixtures.
- Water systems diagnosis such as clogged drains and no water flow.
- Repairs and replacement of plumbing parts.
- Changing toilets, shower replacements, fixture replacements.
- Water heater diagnosis, repairs and replacement
- Complete Service Calls/Change of Occupancy Maintenance work and property management requirements.
- Transport, install, and connect stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, and other electrical and gas appliances.
- Transport equipment, furnishings and appliances to job sites, load and unload trucks.
- Respond to and complete on-call after hours emergency and urgent repairs.
- Operate power tools and power equipment.
- Complete repairs as directed by immediate supervisor or other organization management representatives.
- Update work order status, including time, materials, and notes on mobile devices provided accurately and timely.
- Keep supervisor well-informed of activities, results, and potential problems, while recommending corrective actions to supervisor.
- Work cooperatively and conduct oneself professionally when in contact with customers, staff, sub/contractors, monitors, and the public.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Less than 1 year of related work experience.
- Demonstrate basic competency in carpentry, plumbing and electrical trades at a minimum as assessed through written, verbal and hands on assessments.
- Ability to provide high customer service professionally and respectfully.
- A current driver's license in good standing and ability to meet the driving records standards outlined in the Company Safe Vehicular Operations Policy.
- Ability to adapt successfully to changing situations and environments.
- Basic familiarity with computers and web-based applications.
- Technicians will provide tools and equipment necessary to perform their daily job duties.
- Ability to read and write in English, to understand basic instructions and take direction from supervisors.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
- Ability to use tools such as: Multi-meter, Tube cutter, Torch, Level, HVAC gauges, Drill, Sawz-All, Sander, Power Saws.
- Plumbing certification.
- This position is located at a federal facility. In accordance with the REAL ID Act, effective May 7, 2025, a REAL ID compliant driver's license/ID is required in order to access the federal facility.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Vocational or technical training.
- 3-5 years of work experience in the plumbing field.
