Assistant Accounting Manager

San Diego, CA

ConAm Management is a large multi-family property management company. We are seeking a dynamic Assistant Accounting Manager for our San Diego Office.  This position requires a commitment to quality, accuracy, and professionalism.  The successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic, the ability to multi-task, mentor and assist staff to meet organizational goals. 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1-3 years relevant accounting experience
  • Experience in a multi-entity reporting environment
  • Solid verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Efficient problem solving skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to reassign priorities daily
  • Real estate experience preferred
  • CPA or MBA preferred

Software Experience preferred:

  • Yardi Voyager 7S
  • MRI
  • Excel
  • Word

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred

Essential Functions: 

  • Assist Accounting Managers in interviewing and evaluating applicants 

  • Enforce all local, state and federal laws. Notify manager and/or human resources director of compliance issues. Take corrective action with regard to violations of policy and/or regulations, as directed
  • Observe and inspect the activities and work product of associates to ensure accuracy and reconciliation of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and all sub ledgers. Review management reports to ensure accuracy and account thoroughness. Also, that associates comply with ConAm’s policies and procedures.

  • Assess each associate’s work performance and assist with performance evaluations. Assist Managers in establishing goals for improved performance. Make recommendations to Accounting Manager for changes in compensation.

  • Strive to resolve employment issues and, if necessary, seek assistance from Senior Management or Human Resources in order to resolve problems.

  • Provide initial and ongoing training, as needed. Conduct regular staff meetings to reinforce ConAm policies, standards and expectations.

  • Misc functions as needed.
