Leads the creation, adoption, oversight and management of the Company’s established Interior Design Standards on both new development and renovation projects globally in collaboration with the Company’s project team members and independent design consultant teams retained to support the identified regions and execute on the individual projects in those regions. The Director, Interiors – Global Design leads and conducts monthly Project Design Review calls to track and report on established critical milestone design decisions, adherence to budgets and ensure the assigned project teams are working toward a unique and on point project theme, while adhering to established standards.
Leads through building relationships based on trust, not authority and manages his or her network through collaboration, critical thinking and encouraging open discourse with other design leaders, both internally and externally.
Reviews and understands internal and external consumer research reports, e.g. “market studies”, to provide creative direction on asset positioning or repositioning within a competitive landscape, consistently driving and elevating design. Addresses gaps and troubleshoots when necessary.
Creates and develops Greystar’s interior design aesthetic standards guide, defining the design quality standards and establishing polices and guidelines on space requirements for common areas and amenities programmed into the new developments and renovation or repositioning plans. Communicates a plan for the guide to reduce design timelines and costs and drives innovation for multifamily, flexible housing, student living and senior housing products.
Provides thought leadership to the Development and Construction Center of Excellence on opportunities, including opportunities to pursue procurement strategies and standardize product and material selections to create efficiencies, streamline decision making, improve workflow processes and project quality.
Collaborates with global teams to develop thoughtful, creative design strategies that uphold Greystar’s high-quality brand standards.
Interviews, selects, negotiates and manages interior design service appointments and scopes required to implement Greystar design requirements in a fluid and fast-paced environment.
Works closely with development and construction, property management and marketing teams to identify the need for programs and initiatives. Advises investment and development teams on appropriate interior design fit out budgets for underwriting purposes.
Manages the development of the aesthetics of the interior design and innovations that meet the functional, operational, and brand standards and business needs.
