Staff Accountant
Menomonee Falls, WI
Continental Properties is looking for an organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team of dedicated professionals as a Staff Accountant at our home office in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
The position prepares and analyzes budgets and performs general bookkeeping while maintaining primary responsibility for maintaining financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations. This position has primary responsibility for billing activities and will also support tax preparation and year-end audits.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Managing accounts payable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of invoices
- Prepare journal entries, data entry and posting, on a monthly or as needed basis, to ensure integrity of the general ledger and financial statements
- Support accounts payable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of invoice creation and entry
- Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts and perform monthly bank settlements; Assist in the month-end closing process to ensure seamless close out.
- Assisting with Federal and State income tax returns as needed
- Develops systems for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies
Skills Critical to Success:
- Bachelor’s Degree and two to three years of related experience required
- Ability to develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes
- Strong time management skill; able to effectively manage and prioritize competing deadlines
- Advanced computer skills, including experience with MS Excel, MS Word, and automated accounting software
- Strict attention to detail and exemplary organization and communication skills
