Development Analyst
Boston, MA
The Development Analyst supports the Greystar development group in a diverse range of activities from acquisition through project execution by performing market research, financial analyses and underwriting, coordinating entitlement, design, and construction, interfacing with brokers, equity partners, and institutional clients, and tracking and reporting on the status of multifamily and mixed-use construction projects within the Northeast region.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts financial analysis of development opportunities, including the creation of detailed pro forma and financial models. Gathers, compiles, investigates, and analyzes market data to identify potential development opportunities, and prepares narrative memoranda and detailed reports.
- Establishes and maintains productive relationships with local market brokers, institutional and equity partners, lenders, real estate owners, and other key stakeholders, and appropriately manages on-going communications related to proposed development transactions.
- Identifies, investigates, and refers potential development opportunities, and assists in preparing financial, market, and other documents required for new business pitches and RFPs.
- Organizes, leads, and/or participates in the due diligence on properties under contract, and develops documentation and recommendations on key findings.
- Support a diverse range of development activities including site planning, design, permitting and entitlement, accounting and budget tracking, branding and marketing, and leasing coordination.
- Monitors and reports on the status and progress of construction projects, establishes critical timelines and deadlines for tasks and activities, and identifies and effectively addresses issues or problems.
- Completes various human resources, financial, administrative, and other reports and analysis, and performs other duties as assigned or as necessary.
Education
College degree in related field, and/or equivalent experience is highly preferred.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in real estate, finance, or consulting.
- Passion for real estate and local market dynamics.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with proven financial modeling skills.
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Expert-level proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to quickly learn new software and systems to complete, design, and develop required reports and documents.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-management skills in order to establish, cultivate, and maintain relationships with brokers, institutional and equity partners, owners, lenders, and the variety of professionals with whom Greystar does business.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and project management skills in order to effectively track, report, and manage multiple projects and priorities where meeting deadlines is critical.
- Entrepreneurial disposition and eagerness to pursue new tasks with limited direction.
