Accountant, Senior

San Rafael, CA

This position is for a full time (37.5 hours/week) Senior Accountant - Cash Management to work at EAH Corporate in San Rafael, CA. Qualified Candidates will have Bachelors Degree in accounting or a related field or equivalent academic training. Must have 5+ years of senior-level and professionally related work in cash management, investments, banking transaction, accounting or similar technical financial responsibilities, preferably in a non-profit affordable housing environment. Must have computer proficiency skills in Microsoft Office applications and accounting software.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the management of entire portfolio bank accounts, as well as Corporate EAH short-term and long term investments. Perform accounting functions related to cash management, investments, and other reconciliations as assigned. Perform related duties as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Treasury

  • Perform investment management of EAH corporate accounts.
  • Invests funds in a manner consistent with objectives of the EAH investment committee and investment policies.
  • Serves as portfolio’s day-to-day contact with banking professionals and or brokers; places investments to meet property’s needs.
  • Performs tracking of investments and investment earnings in and reconciles to the general ledger monthly. Maintain records of all investments; reconciles internal records with monthly bank statements and prepares monthly investment reports.
  • Maintains documentation of proper safekeeping and custody of EAH assets as required by Investment Policy.
  • Maintains documentation of financial institutions authorized to engage in investment transactions with the EAH.
  • Negotiates interest rates and banking fees.

Cash Management

  • Acts as primary contact with all banking relationships.
  • Responsible for the opening and closing of all bank accounts.
  • Performs all daily banking and cash reporting, including payroll, positive pay processing, ACH management and wire transfers.
  • Performs bank reconciliations for bank accounts as requested
  • Maintains all existing, and new on-line banking services, including the addition of new products.
  • Maintains existing and new on-line user access.
  • Maintains existing banking relationships and create new banking relationships.
  • Assists Development Accounting with all banking needs.
  • Works with government agencies to establish and manage direct deposit banking.
  • Maintains banking manual as banking evolves.

General Accounting

  • Assists in the preparation and reconciliation of schedules for the annual audit.
  • Prepares monthly allocations of banking fees.
  • Performs other journal entries and reconciliations as requested.
  • Maintains daily and provide periodic updates to Bank Account Summary Report.
  • Actively participates in EAH’s safety program.
  • Actively participates in required training.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No direct supervisory responsibilities, however, may provide work leadership to others through assignment of work, monitoring of progress, review of results, orientation and technical instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree in accounting or a related field or equivalent academic training. 5+ years of senior-level and professionally related work in cash management, investments, banking transaction, accounting or similar technical financial responsibilities, preferably in a non-profit affordable housing environment. Computer proficiency skills in Microsoft Office applications and accounting software. 

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENTS

EAH Housing conducts criminal background checks on all candidates who have received a conditional job offer.
