Senior Corporate Accountant

Job Description
The Sr. Accountant, Corporate Accounting, System Projects will support Greystar’s Corporate Accounting’s current and future accounting systems initiatives at both the financial reporting and transactional level. The ideal candidate needs to have the ability to move quickly and fluidly across multiple initiatives and have best-in-class collaboration and written/verbal communication skills. This position will own training, documenting, tracking, prioritizing, and delivering results on a wide range of projects including system enhancement and future roll-outs or implementations. Candidates are expected to have sufficient accounting/finance experience to help the system projects team identify and incorporate the necessary financial reporting internal controls and best practices into the systems and tools that are developed to support new business activities.
At the financial reporting level, the employee will help create automated, visually appealing financial reports and dashboards for end-users like accountants and senior management. At the transactional level, the employee will help research potential accounting system efficiencies and best practices that can ultimately aid in shortening the accounting period close process for the corporate accountants. Additionally, the employee will maintain and update formalized resource and training documents in a centralized location for other accountants to reference.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. System Team Projects
    1. Support project workstreams within implementation and ad hoc projects.
    2. Provide input on business requirements for the design of system solutions and interpret business requirements to deliver solutions that meet user needs.
    3. Participate in the workstream planning process including inception, technical design, development, testing and delivery of system projects.
    4. Support future rollout of Oracle Fusion ERP to international business units.
    5. Provide post- “go-live” support to system corporate accounting end users for data related matters.
  2. Reporting Responsibilities
    1. Create, compile, organize, and maintain formalized transactional and financial reporting information retrieved from Corporate Accounting’s current and future accounting systems.
    2. Create and maintain modern, easy to use, automated, professional reports and dashboards for executives and directors.
    3. Produce ad hoc queries and reports to assist in business analysis and project execution.
  3. Oracle Resource – Cross-Line of Business Testing, Training and Education
    1. Work with software vendor experts to gain a working knowledge of the software products utilized within the Corporate Accounting team and become a subject matter expert.
    2. Document and maintain business intelligence requirements for Oracle products.
    3. Compile, organize, and maintain formalized training and resource documents for Corporate Accounting’s current and future accounting systems.
    4. Research and test potential efficiencies at the transactional level for Corporate Accounting’s current and future accounting systems.
    5. Research and resolve testing defects caused by inaccurate or missing data, system patches, updates and upgrades.
    6. Train system users on business intelligence tools and reporting capabilities.
    7. Stay abreast of new products and tools for financial reporting and business intelligence, as well as business strategies and direction.
    8. Stay abreast of quarterly Oracle upgrades to improve current processes.



Education

College degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field, and/or equivalent experience is highly preferred.

  • Hard skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (preferred), accounting systems, finance, business, data analytics, or related field, and/or equivalent experience is required
  • Strong Excel skills – including vlookups, pivot tables, and a familiarity with macros
  • Oracle Fusion Cloud (ERP/FCCS) experience preferred
  • Hyperion Financial Reporting Studio and Smart View experience preferred
  • PowerBI experience preferred
  • Employment history that demonstrates the application and usage of an accounting and financial background sufficient to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports in accordance with accounting, finance, budgeting, and cost control principles
