We are currently searching for a Sales Tax Manager to be based at our Arlington, VA Corporate Headquarters.

The Role

This role will have primary responsibility for sales, use, and personal property tax compliance. This role will manager one tax analyst. This could advance as responsibilities increase and incorporate state and local income/franchise tax. The role reports to the Vice President of Tax.

Responsibilities

Personal Property Tax

  • Compile all information required to accurately and timely complete personal property tax returns, ensure timely filling of returns, review property tax bills for accuracy, and ensure timely payment of all bills.
  • Identify and implement improvements to ensure personal property tax reporting is complete, accurate, and efficient.
  • Manage personal property tax audits including responsibility for drafting communications, preparation of responses to information document requests and related inquiries.

Sales and Use Tax

  • Calculate use tax on operations and construction activity.
  • Ensure proper accounting related to all areas of sales and use tax.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of sales and use tax accounts.
  • Research and identify changes in state tax laws and regulations.
  • Identify and implement improvements to ensure sales and use tax reporting is complete, accurate, and efficient.
  • Manage sales and use tax audits including reconciliations of years under audit and preparation of responses to information document requests and related inquiries.

You Have...

Requirements

  • Three to Five years of indirect tax experience.
  • Bachelors Degree in Tax, Accounting or Business.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Motivated to learn and grow within the organization.

Preferences

  • Prior indirect experience in the construction industry.
  • CPA certification or CPA eligible
  • Organized with the ability to work many projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Comfortable compiling, analyzing, and organizing large volumes of data.
  • Detail oriented with a focus on completing a work product requiring minimal changes.
  • Self-motivated with drive and initiative.
