Job Description
Design and documentation of logical and physical analytical data models for transactional and analytical databases. Works closely with Data Stewards, Data Governance and developers to create and maintain data dictionary and data lineage. Helps investigate and resolve data anomalies including data quality issues and ambiguous data definitions. Recommends data integrity checks and controls to ensure data quality. Obtains new data requirements from the business and business analysts; and coordinates efforts with the developers, dba’s and business analysts. Performs as data SME in guiding both business and IT users of data. Source system analysis, data profiling and creating design documents and Source2Target mappings for the development teams to implement. Assists with large-scale data migrations across the enterprise as well as with optimization and scalability efforts. Works closely with key data consumers (report analysts, data scientists etc.) to understand needs and challenges and come up with strategy and solutions. Ensures compliance with Greystar’s policies & procedures, safety, state and federal laws, regulations and standards.

Work as a hands-on member of a design, build and test team to transform and release existing and new sources of data into our enterprise data platform.

Provide strategic technology leadership, champion architecture practices, and provide guidance to management on the design and planning of IT systems, phases, always seeking opportunities to standardize, with a strong focus on capacity, recovery, performance, and security needs.

Recommending proactive, innovative IT solutions for the improvement of IT design and operation whenever and wherever possible.

Lead or support the assessment and evaluation of major new IT design options. Where required, assess changes to conformance and design principles.

Assume technical responsibility for IT standards, policy, and design for all significant projects and major areas, covering application, data, and infrastructure domains, as well as enterprise applications, business tools, and transit systems, ensuring that all services meet their service levels and targets.

Providing advice and guidance to all areas of IT and business management, analysts, planners, designers, and developers on all aspects of IT design and technology.

Provide technology governance by conducting architectural assessments or leading design tasks to drive alignment to standards and best practices.

Support the portfolio and project management processes by assisting in prioritization and sequencing of projects, support project work breakdown activities, help remove roadblocks, and lead resolution to disagreements related to solution design.

Lead strategic analysis and collaboration efforts related to strategic planning, selection, and implementation of strategy and solutions, including needs such as cloud strategy, infrastructure strategy, and enterprise system replacement.

Actively participates in as-is and to-be solutions for enterprise systems, especially as it relates to developing plans and roadmaps.

Strong understanding of master data and metadata management and demonstrated experience and knowledge of multi-tier architectures.

Experience with Data Warehousing, Data Management and Master Data Management related technologies.

Translating logical designs into physical designs, taking account of business requirements, target environments, processes, performance requirements, existing systems and services, and any potential safety-related aspects.

Interfacing with designers and planners from external suppliers and service providers, ensuring all external IT services are designed to meet their agreed service levels and targets.

Taking full responsibility for the design aspects of all stages of the lifecycle of IT systems, including investigation, analysis, specification, design, development, construction, testing, maintenance, upgrade, transition, operation, and improvement.

Designing measurement methods and metrics to support the continual improvement of service provision and all supporting processes.

Working with capacity management and reviewing IT traffic volumes and requirements, identifying trends in traffic flows and levels of service.

Help establish knowledge management as a core practice within IT, including both the repository of knowledge, as well as the practice of managing knowledge.

Produce and manage a body of architectural knowledge, system design, data design, etc.

Support the review of processes, roles and responsibilities, and documentation in support of agency audit and compliance activities.

Technical experience in Microsoft .NET application development is a plus.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information technology, business management information systems, or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

Superior communications and presentation skills.

Knowledge working with advanced SQL Server TSQL stored procedures.

Experience with ETL/ELT tools such SSIS, Azure Data Factory or equivalent tools. Dell Boomi is a plus.

Excellent meeting and conflict management skills.

Must be able to effectively communicate to cross functional leaders and senior executives internally and externally.

Self-starter with strong organizational, managerial and project management skills.

Able to design, review, and optimize technical project plans, identify critical dependencies, sequencing and risks, and drive projects to success.

Strong cross functional team leadership skills.

Ability to familiarize on technical subjects & emerging technologies and their relevance to our marketplace.

Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively to prepare and explain data to team members.

Demonstrated proficiency in software such as, word processing, spreadsheet, and database management programs to develop and/or complete required reports.

Ability to comprehend and analyze operational system questions and issues and determine best steps in rendering solutions.
