We are currently searching for the right candidate to join our Data Analytics Team as a Senior Business Analyst in our Arlington, VA corporate headquarters.

At AvalonBay we are building the industry’s most advanced data science capability. Join a green-field opportunity to take responsibility for our Data Analytics Consultancy at one of the largest REITs in the country. The role includes:

• Driving substantial ROI for AvalonBay.
• Work with our Data Scientists and Data Engineers to develop data driven insights for Senior Management.
• Work with the data science team to develop deep learning solutions which enhance the way AvalonBay conducts business.
• Take responsibility for timely and accurate report, dashboard and analysis delivery
• Develop SQL queries for reporting and analysis.
• Implement quality assurance best practices. Dig into the data and make sure the numbers are right.
• Develop specifications for implementation of production reports and dashboards by the Enterprise Data Warehouse team.
• Design and implement tests with rigorous statistical discipline.

Qualifications required:

• A degree in business, statistics, or similar field, plus at least 3 years of relevant experience, such as property management analysis.
• Rock solid MS Excel skills.
• Experience with MS Reporting Services, Analysis Servicesand SQL, particularly in support of analytics and modeling, preferred but not required.
• Experience merging and analyzing large, diverse data sources.
• Experience with statistical modeling and hypothesis testing, regression modeling and forecasting a plus.
• Experience with data visualization tools, such as Power BI or D3, a plus. You should be able to construct visual explanations which simplify complex business insights from data.
• Exposure to machine learning and developing predictive models a plus.
• The ability to explain complex technical material to nontechnical audiences.
