Regional Learning Manager

Under the direction of the Organization and Talent Development (OTD) Director, the Regional Learning Manager (RLM) will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for management and leadership development training, performance consulting and small scale Organization Development (OD) projects. Working closely with the regional operations teams and VPs, this role is focused on operational excellence related to sales/service management, core management/leadership development, performance improvement and team development. Additionally, the RLM will support core operations training (sales and customer service workshops).

 

Based in Washington, DC, this role will support our Northeast portfolio, consisting of 1300 employees and 120 apartment communities (35,000 units) in the Metro Washington, DC, New York and Boston regions, and requires the ability to travel 50%+ of your work schedule with frequent overnight visits to the different markets.

WHAT YOU’LL DO 
  • Facilitate learning using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as discovery learning, problem-based learning, role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, lectures, and on the job coaching as needed.
  • Integrate classroom learning with real-world, business-specific situations to drive job performance outcomes.
  • Serve as an integral member of the OTD team, contributing to a strong organizational culture of employee learning and development, helping to make a positive impact on the lives of our employees.
  • Participate in the OTD team’s design, development and assessment of curricular materials and resources.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with business partners and OTD, Director to support holistically the learning and development needs of operations and make recommendations to implement improved processes.
  • Assess performance and management development needs for new and existing employees through surveys, interviews and focus groups.
  • Evaluate learner progress and provide feedback to trainees regarding areas of improvement and development.
  • Monitor, track, analyze and report training results, along with legal compliance to ensure these reports meet established company goals.
 

REQUIREMENTS / PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • 2-3 years functional experience in HR, Learning and Development consulting or organization development (OD) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in adult education or business related field preferred. Masters degree in HR Management, Leadership or Organizational Behavior (OB or OD) is a major plus.
  • Excellent Performance improvement record and proven strong consulting skills a must, demonstrated by customer feedback and leadership support.
  • Facilitator and assessment certifications preferred: DDI, Vital Smarts, MBTI, Firo-B, DiSC or other equivalent certifications.
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent diagnostic and/or assessment skills and tools knowledge to identify performance issues and skills gaps related to the management of operations.
  • Must be able to facilitate learning (both in and out of the classroom) and communicate effectively with various front line and leadership levels of the property management organization; possesses a solid understanding of Adult learning principles - Knowing how adults acquire and use knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire, influence and interact with a diverse customer base.
  • Must be able to supervise, organize, prioritize workload and work on numerous projects/tasks at one time, along with the ability to manage high stress situations with ease and positivity.
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Excel and Word required.
  • Must be able to travel upwards of 50% of work schedule.
