Job Summary:
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for providing accounting, technical and clerical support to the Corporate Accounting team. The position works closely with the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Specialists and will take direction from the Corporate Controller. The position is responsible for fulfilling support functions which may include, but are not limited to, preparing payroll and benefit charges for upload into various systems, processing deposit and receipt of all cash collections and ancillary checks, run reports for accounting staff and updating corporate workbooks with transaction activity. A successful Accounting Clerk ensures timeliness and accuracy when completing all assigned department processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Accounting Clerk will use sound judgment and due diligence in executing the following responsibilities:
Relationships
- Provides support to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Specialists and the Corproate Controller.
- Performs the duties of other Accounting Clerks (in their absence) as required.
- Exercises professionalism and uses caution/discretion when engaging Team Members or other business associates outside of the normal work hours or circumstances.
Reporting
- Completes departmental functions as defined by the Department Manager, which include, but are not limited to, preparing payroll and benefit charges, uploading the charges into the various systems of operation, reviewing daily banking activity, updating corporate workbooks with transaction activity, processing the receipt of all cash collections, assist with the completion of online banking transactions, deposit ancillary checks through remote deposit, review all expense reports through the reporting platform, run various reports for the Corporate Accounting team and provide administrative support, such as mailing ans filing, as needed.
- Compiles and sorts documents (e.g. invoices, checks, bank statements).
- Performs any combination of calculating, posting, or verifying duties to confirm the details of business transactions and maintain financial information.
- Compares data contained in a variety of financial records in order to detect trends, errors, or anomalies.
- Maintains files and support documentation required to authenticate business transactions.
- Complies with and enforces company and accounting policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Profitability
- Monitors business transactions related to Pinnacle for irregularities and reports finding as necessary.
- Supports internal controls established by the department and company, and discloses any weaknesses relating to such controls or the lack thereof.
- Continually seeks to identify innovative strategies for increasing department efficiencies and reducing expenses.
- Applies quality measures and standards within all areas of responsibility to support the company’s mission, vision, and core values.
