Sage currently seeks an experienced Compliance Specialist to work at our apartment community in Bremerton, WA. Under the direct supervision of the Community Manager the Compliance Specialist will manage the new resident qualification process, re-certifications and overall resident file maintenance on-site

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keep current on all updates and changes in affordable housing programs and requirement
  • Verify and Test income and asset verification of tenant files for applicable housing programs (HUD and Tax Credit) for all Move-Ins, Interims and Annual Recertification’s
  • Review, provide written response, and process household file applications for rental assistance and affordable housing programs within to the compliance department
  • Ensure all applicable housing program regulated forms are in file and properly completely
  • Perform necessary on-site file audits
  • Preserves and respects resident and applicant confidentiality
  • Respond to compliance audit reports and submit to Portfolio Manager within 7-30-days
  • Ensure all Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Reports are completed on time
  • Assist with completion of MOR/LIHTC/State Agency reviews
  • Ensure HAP Payments are submitted on time, HAP Reconciliation, Special Claims
  • Assist with HUD annual rent increases, contract renewals, utility analyses, and RCS.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the waiting list of applicants for housing to determine applicant eligibility
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Management

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1 to 3 years’ in affordable housing compliance experience in Project Based Section 8 and/or Tax Credit
  • Affordable Housing Compliance Certification LIHTC/HUD/HOME or Certified Occupancy Specialist highly preferred
  • Proficiency in Yardi Voyager preferred
  • Able to work patiently and professionally with residents while providing exceptional customer service
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently Ability to handle pressure due to complexity and time sensitivity Excellent organizational skills and attention to details
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic math proficiency required
