Director, Facilities Management

The Director, Facilities Management position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day physical operation of one or more mixed-use properties comprised of rental housing, retail, office space rental, and parking, with the primary and initial property being the Greystar corporate headquarters in Charleston (Courier Square). The position serves as the main point of contact for Community Manager(s) and various other tenants occupying the assets, as well as other relevant and municipal agencies and groups, with respect to key aspects of the physical operation of the assets. This position is responsible for the lease administration for all retail and commercial office space tenants, including assisting with marketing and leasing available space, providing proactive management and issue resolution for all facilities, and overseeing the operation of the public parking component. The Director of Facilities Management prepares, executes, and manages an annual budget, and is responsible for reviewing budget, operating, and other reports as needed to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the property(ies), including negotiating contracts with contractors, maintenance and service providers needed to provide for property care, appearance, and upkeep.
Education
College degree in a related field, and/or equivalent experience required.
Qualifications
- Strong background in facilities and plant management, preferably for mixed-use real estate assets, with progressively more responsibility and experience in tenant lease administration and building/asset management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build and manage positive relationships with individuals of diverse styles and job levels; ability to foster customer satisfaction through urgent problem resolution, supportive communication, and follow-up.
- Skilled in problem solving, financial analysis, and planning and organizing complex assignments and projects. Shows good judgment and maturity in decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively to prepare memos, leases, reports, and other documents, and explain financial and other data to others using multiple vehicles and communication channels.
- High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, property management software (Yardi and One Site), database management programs, internet applications, and other technologies in order to complete required reports and communication materials.
- Must be proactive, self-directed, highly motivated, and possess skills in time management in order to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated mathematical skills necessary to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers, decimals, and fractions, and calculate percentages in order to complete financial records, budgets, and other fiscal reporting information.
