Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a “roll-up-the-sleeves” attitude and will be capable of assuming additional responsibilities as the company grows. In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact with various cross-functional partners, including Property Accounting, Redevelopment Accounting, IT, Tax & Treasury, Internal Audit, Capital Markets and others.

  • Plan and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement close and consolidation process.
  • Oversees and mentors Corporate Accounting team of three people
  • Applies GAAP to financial transactions and prepares or posts the journal entries
  • Creates or reviews account reconciliations
  • Attends to details while maintaining perspective on higher-level business issues
  • Solves problems independently to detect and correct errors
  • The ability to analyze data and explain it (i.e. budget to actual variance analysis and trend analysis)
  • Liaison with payroll team to analyze information and to properly record transactions
  • Reviews and prepares audit schedules, interacts with the auditors
  • Implements and documents continuous process improvements
  • Protects organization’s value by maintaining confidentiality of company information
  • Ensures the integrity of financial statements by following SOX and internal control procedures

Requirements

A valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance is required.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Business or Accounting degree
  • Minimum 8 years of experience, mix of public accounting and private industry preferred
  • Consolidations and/or financial reporting experience
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial statements
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and self-manage workload
  • Ability to take ownership of issues and ensure timely resolution
  • Ability to work on cross functional activities and form solid business relationships across functions
  • Flexible, adaptable, and proactive
  • Ability to influence and drive change
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; possesses intermediate to expert Excel capabilities
