Project Manager - Renovation

Under the direction of the Renovation Services Director, the Project Manager - Renovation is responsible for independently managing, evaluating, and implementing the execution of interior apartment renovation projects for a portfolio of multiple properties throughout the assigned portfolio. The Project Manager will also develop the skill set to handle capital management projects. This position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, along with computer and hands-on project management skills. In addition, this position requires the ability to successfully handle the challenging, unpredictable, and potentially stressful environments that develop during construction projects.

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

 
  • Develop rehab specifications and the methodology of evaluating, validating, recommending, and implementing them.
  • Assist in developing project plans to execute rehab projects including project scope and specifications.
  • Manage the inspection and payment process pursuant to the contract and the relationship with vendors.
  • Report on the progress of all assigned projects. Act as liaison between on-site management and vendors/contractors and communicate effectively with management when problems or changes occur.
  • Provide guidance and direction to contractors and may be required to supervise Renovation Services Supervisors and Technicians.
  • Perform Construction Services Manager functions as necessary for capital budget projects.
  • Act as a support resource to Regional Managers, Facility Services Managers, Investment Officers, and on-site property teams by providing frequent communication, proactive status updates, and maintaining plans on an ongoing basis.
 
REQUIREMENTS 
  • Strong background in residential construction and project management (2-4 years experience in the field). 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field is preferred. 
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and collaboration skills, as well as written and verbal communications skills. 
  • Proficiency with computer programs and systems, including Google apps, word processing, spreadsheet preparation and analysis, online procurement, etc. 
  • Driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle, flexibility for local travel throughout the portfolio.
