SUMMARY
Maintain common areas in clean and orderly condition to the standards set by the regional manager and supervisor. Position may also require cleaning vacant apartments and/or model units.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position typically reports directly to the maintenance supervisor and indirectly to the property manager; cleans and performs general housekeeping and/or grounds clean-up duties; keeps sidewalks clear of trash, debris, snow and ice; reports potential safety risk or repair concerns to the supervisor.
COMPETENCY
Knowledge of best and safest use of equipment and chemicals used to perform assigned duties. Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations relative to identified responsibilities; ability to read and interpret MSDS information relative to materials used in performing assigned duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school or GED equivalent preferred; at least two months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven ability to pass fair housing exam.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to understand cleaning solution or equipment labels and use as instructed.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts of basic math.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense in matters of safety and understand simple instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to grip, handle or feel common hand tools, brooms, rakes, and other general tools used for cleaning. The employee frequently is required to move about the property as well as offices, utility rooms and storage rooms for visual inspection and to access maintenance items. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required include both close vision and distance vision. Specific audio/verbal abilities include communicating with employees, residents, and vendors both in person and via telephone.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and varying weather conditions. Able to work weekends and/or overtime if approved and required.
Benefits
All benefits, as described below, are provided to SARES-REGIS Group full--time employees, working regularly scheduled hours of 30 hours or more per week. For medical benefits, employees have the choice of 2 HMOs. The Deductible HMO is provided at no cost to the employee. The Traditional HMO requires an employee contribution for part of the premium.
